I recently started a website (becomemyownboss.com) and am unsure in this area the different free ways to increase my web traffic. I already submitted my url to Yahoo and Google but are here free services that can help?

Here are a lot of free things you can do. First of all, you need to choose which keywords you are going to optimize your website for i.e. what are people searching for when you want them to find you.
The formula I use is 500 searches or more per month for your keyword phrase with less than 20,000 allintitle and allinanchor on google.com. These are typically your excellent keyword phrases to optimize for.
Once you’ve done that, certainly write articles, probably one per week and submit them to article directories. ezinearticles.com, goarticles.com and any others that have a high page rank according to google. You won’t be able to link back to your site using keyword within the article itself, but you will be able to link back with keyword phrases in your author profile.
Also, if you aren’t already a fantastic way to get ranked with search engines is to start a blog and write a few posts a week with your keyword phrases linked to your main site within your blog. Get that blog submitted to rss directories and shared bookmark your own articles with sites like digg.com del.icio.us netscape.com, etc.
I realize this is probably more than you are asking, but if I can introduce you to this and at least make you aware of what’s out here, you’ll be able to have a starting point and refer back to this as you go.
